DARCY MIRO: Darcy’s World
June 13 - July 7, 2026
JK Art & Design Projects is pleased to present the gallery’s inaugural solo exhibition of Brooklyn-based artist and designer Darcy Miro. “Darcy’s World.” On view from June 13 - July 7, 2026, this marks the first comprehensive exhibition of Miro’s multifaceted practice. Entitled Darcy’s World, the installation is a celebration of the artist’s radical evolution through fearless experimentation.
A renowned metalsmith and jewelry maker for over thirty years acclaimed for her mastery of bronze, gold and silver casting, Darcy’s World highlights Miro’s transformative breakthrough of exploring clay as a medium and a new mode of expression. A nod to matriarchal storytelling traditions, the gallery will present a monumental installation of lyrical ceramic mirrors inspired by Miro’s personal experience of daily rituals inherent to motherhood such as the frantic search for a pair of shoes before school. “It’s a way to pass down stories traditionally told by the matriarch in the family about history, daily activities, or bonding experiences among women. They've become these narratives of my day. So if I’m braiding someone’s hair or if we’re on the street eating a pretzel, it just becomes this conglomeration of shapes and ideas and stories,” states Miro. The end result is simultaneously surprising and familiar.
Allowing the viewer a glimpse inside her private universe, the exhibition explores sculpture, lighting, objects, jewelry, architectural elements, wallpaper and will debut a myriad of new typologies. Widely recognized for her jewelry making which Miro refers to as “wearables”, a centerpiece of the exhibition will be a unique display of her bracelets, rings, necklaces composed of fine-metal and precious gemstones and casted by hand in the studio. Through expressive mark making and meticulous attention to detail that permeates her practice, she seeks to evoke the same feelings of adornment and pleasure experienced when wearing her jewelry to those living with her design pieces in one’s private home.
As the daughter of a renowned curator and art critic in Detroit during the 1980s, Miro was surrounded by artists such as Yoko Ono and Keith Haring throughout her childhood. As a testament to her lifelong dedication to fostering collaboration within the artistic community, Miro weaves together other creative voices and narratives who have been profound influences throughout her career into an immersive environment as well as curate simultaneous on-site programming.
